CLASS summer internationalisation activities post-trip debriefing forum

This summer, the College sent 123 students to nine of its partner institutions/organisations in Canada, South Korea, Singapore, the UK and the US for culture and language immersion, overseas summer schools or professional internships. A post-trip debriefing forum was held on 22 August 2016, providing an opportunity for the returnees to review and share their accomplishments.

The forum was hosted by Professor Hon CHAN, Assistant Dean (Internationalisation). Student representatives from each of the nine programmes gave presentations on their overseas learning experiences and achievements. Among the audience were colleagues including Professor Horace IP, Vice President (Student Affairs); Professor Xiaowei ZANG, the Dean of CLASS; and Professor Dennis WONG and Dr Peppina LEE, Associate Deans of CLASS. We were delighted to see that all students participating in these activities have benefited from these experiences.

At CLASS, internationalisation is a vital part of education as it helps students to become globally competitive. A huge amount of effort and resources have been invested in cultivating links, setting up agreements and lining up logistical support for various international learning programmes. As a result of these dedicated efforts over many years, more than half of the UGC-funded Bachelor’s degree graduates at CLASS have acquired international learning experiences while studying at CityU.

In the future, the College will provide even more international learning opportunities for its students to enrich their global understanding.
