COM Research Seminar: Understanding and Modeling Blockchain Game Player Behaviors and Tokenomics by Prof Xiaofan LIU

On October 30, 2023, Prof. Xiaofan Liu, Assistant Professor in the Department of Media and Communication at City University of Hong Kong and Founder of Eurybia Technology Limited, held an insightful seminar titled "Understanding and Modeling Blockchain Game Player Behaviors and Tokenomics". Prof. Liu delved into the intricacies of cryptocurrency, Web3, and blockchain technologies. Despite the considerable buzz these technologies have been generating in the digital world, they have yet to gain mass adoption. Prof. Liu suggested that the key to bridging this gap might be found in casual and recreational activities, particularly games. During the seminar, Prof. Liu reviewed the evolution of blockchain games over the past five years, analyzing their economic patterns and player behaviors as reflected in blockchain data. The event was held online and in person, drawing an audience of over forty participants, comprising faculty members, PhD students, and scholars from different disciplines.
