COM Research Seminar: When Public Relations Meets Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Public Relations Research and Practice by Prof Yuan WANG

On November 27, 2023, Prof. Yuan Wang, an Assistant Professor and program leader in the Department of Media and Communication at City University of Hong Kong, delivered a seminar titled "When Public Relations Meets Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Public Relations Research and Practice". In the seminar, Prof. Wang discussed how AI has made significant impacts on public relations processes and outcomes, leading to a paradigm shift in the field. His seminar included an introduction to the evolution of AI and its role in public relations research and practice. He also provided an overview of AI-related public relations research and suggested directions for future exploration. Prof. Wang's study examined the effects of the public's gratifications for using AI-powered chatbot services developed by the World Health Organization. He discussed how these gratifications influence satisfaction with the chatbot, and how they further affect chatbot engagement and organization-public relationships. The seminar attracted approximately 20 individuals, including faculty members, Ph.D. students, and scholars from various disciplines.
