President’s Lecture Series: Excellence in Academia

Professor Chen Guohua, Dean and Chair Professor of Smart Energy Conversion and Storage, School of Energy and Environment, will share his research on advanced electrode materials using chemical vapour deposition. His talk will start with diamond film fabricated on titanium substrate, functional polymeric materials made at MIT, and then focus on the coating of a skin layer of conductive polymers on cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries. He will also touch on his future work at CityU in this field. The experimental facility, experimental results and the mechanisms for the processes will be analysed with help from advanced characterisation methods. The talk will be held online on 8 February. Professor Virginia Harper Ho and Dr Lauren Lin Yu-hsin from the School of Law, together with Dr Zhao Shan from the Department of Economics and Finance, have been appointed as research members of the European Corporate Governance Institute (“EGCI”). CityU is the only university to have three faculty members admitted as members this year.

Mr Angus Mak, Senior Technical Officer, Facilities Management Office, won the Gold Award in the Organization/enterprise - Foreman category in the 14th Outstanding OSH Employees Award. The Occupational Safety and Health Council, Labour Department, LegCo members (functional Constituency - labour) and employee representatives from the Labour Advisory Board organise the Hong Kong Outstanding OSH Employee Award to encourage occupational safety and health and recognise employees with outstanding achievements in making their workplace safer and healthier. The award also aligns with the World Day for Safety and Health at Work campaign run by the United Nations.
