Our Pledge! Psychological Well-being of the CityU Community

Contributor: Dr Larry Ng [Counselling Service, SDS]

For the observance of the social-distancing measures having brought into effect in Hong Kong since early February 2020 and the importance of the health and safety of students and staff, the Counselling Team of CityU Student Development Services has swiftly adjusted its services by providing professional psychological counselling through Zoom or by 24-hour hotline to ease students’ psychological burden, under the guidance of Professor Eric Chui, Dean of Students. This boundless caring support has reached out to CityU outbound exchange programme students and non-local students who are unable to return to Hong Kong due to quarantine and travel restrictions. Students have shown appreciation of the support and care given by counsellors for their worries and cultural adjustment issues.

To help students learn to understand and manage their emotions, the Counselling Team has also strengthened the information provided on the Counselling Service website.

Simple tips for improving well-being are publicised to encourage self-care among the CityU Community.
