- To oversee safety and compliance issues related to teaching and research activities in laboratory.
- To work and coordinate with various departments and Laboratory Safety Committees to establish policies and procedures to enhance safety management and regulatory compliance.

- Advise on laboratory design, research/teaching activities and operation with respect to health and safety.
- Formulate laboratory health and safety related policies, guidelines and procedures in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Eliminate laboratory risk through implementation of laboratory safety program and risk management program.
- Take effective control measures and remediate actions in laboratory that may be considered necessary in the interest of health and safety.
- Yield a high standard of compliance rate on laboratory safety by carrying out regular laboratory inspection, pre-occupational safety check, and monitoring laboratory activities/ operation with special health and safety concerns through the partnership with departments.
