Residential Life, an Incredible Journey of Growth - 2018/19 Hall Scholarship Presentation Ceremony

Hall scholarships are established with an aim to recognise well-rounded individuals who thrive in the cultural blending of CityU’s vibrant hall life and to groom multinational future leaders.

The Hall Scholarship Presentation Ceremony was held for its very first time at CityU in the 2018/19 academic year. 78 outstanding awardees were selected among 3,700 hall residents, encompassing a mega family of locals and international students from 11 countries.

All awardees demonstrated their whole-person development in the last residential year. Some of them have become more proactive to step up to be the leader of a team and acquire new skills; while some have cultivated new values and sense of appreciation alongside learning different cultures; some have become self-motivated, pushed their limits and eventually enjoyed taking up varieties of responsibilities.

Among all, Cakin Ezgi, a Year 3 Engineering student from Turkey, who gave the vote of thanks in the ceremony recounted the dribs and drabs of her hall life such as the support, sincerity and generosity from hall mates she experienced that helped her instil new values and shaped her into an optimistic individual. With all these positive impacts, she aims to try her utmost to contribute to the society.
